Dawn

Wheelchair bound Dawn is a homeless neighbor who has lived on the streets for the last 8 months.  She and her friends Paul and Mack (see extra photo), along with their dog Woofy, lost their Section 8 low income housing for various reasons and now have no place to go and no plans for the impending rainy season.  They have taken up "residence" on a sidewalk that provides no shelter from the sun or rain. A shopping cart serves as their mobile storage unit and Woofy's home.

Today I stopped to sit with these folks and chat.  On days when I feel like I don't have much to offer, it's a good reminder for me to know that sometimes a smile and a little conversation is the best thing I can give.
