Our Local Letter Box

This is the local (Midgehole) wall mounted letter box situated at the entrance to Hardcastle Crags.
I have discovered the manufacture of these British icons ceased in the 1980s.  It would appear the cost of removing boxes from use and repairing damaged ones began to become expensive with the expense of making good walls as well as maintaining the boxes themselves.
This box could become a collectors item :-)
