Variation on a theme

Finished this last night, it was using up some bits of wool and there wasn't enough of the bits to do it as the original pattern which was in blocks of 4 in one colour. I like doing variations and also backed it with fleece and added the crochet edging.
Son's birthday today and we were round for tea - but I forgot the camera. The face of grandson no4 when he saw the candles would have been worth a photo.
