Snipe

Apparently the Snipe in folklore is the hardest bird to track down and the word Sniper came about because of the birds ability to hide so perfectly, just like a Sniper. Plus the Snipe has the best camouflage patterns of any bird with it's jagged, zigzags. The Snipe also flies in a very haphazard manner that makes it almost impossible to track. He saw me and as you can see carried on probing the mud for his food, with his extremely long straight beak. But then he was gone! Like magic he disappeared and I felt very honoured he stayed just long enough for me to get a photograph of this lovely elusive bird.
