Light on the Flat Stones

The sun sparkles on the river around the Flat Stones this morning.

The 'extra' I've uploaded here confirms something I have long suspected: that the rather primitive-looking birds that I've glimpsed a few times on this part of the river over the years are a small population of Goosander (Mergus merganser). I don't exactly go around equipped for any serious wildlife photography as such, so this is the best I could do with the lens I had on my camera at the time. Within seconds, the birds sensed my presence, and were gone in a flash.
