Waiting for the tide.

Arnside has a sailing club with its own building on the promenade with a bar and meeting room.
It also has a boatyard with a dozen or so dinghies and a slipway.

But it is a rare event to see a boat sailing in the estuary. In summer some use high tide to escape down the estuary and further out into Morecambe Bay. In the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth the village had a flourishing boat building company. But that has all gone now.
