I wonder why it's padlocked

Makes you wonder why these gates are padlocked with a chain because all there is behind them is a load of weeds and nettles and brambles. It was once, many many years ago an allotment, then someone kept horses on it, after that goats followed by scrap ie old cars, washing machines etc. then it was cleared and rented to a girl with 2 ponies, who had to give them up when she was reported for some reason or other, now it's just wasteland.

A funny story  of sorts with the goats, the kids used to untie them and let them loose in the village and I have more than once had to put the dog lead on one and take it back, but the funniest was when on the last day of term some of the lads took one to school, which is over a mile away, and  sneaked it in through the fire door with a note round it's neck saying "I would like to come to this school next term" it was found wandering the corridors  and took ages apparently till the original owner was traced and he had to go and bring it back.
