Eiffel Tower

Today, our last day of our mini break, we thought we had better see a few landmarks since the weather was a little better. We went to The Louvre thinking we wouldn't bother queuing to go in, but just to see the building and the queue wasn't too bad so we decided to go in, thinking we would regret it if we didn't. We didn't see everything but did see the Mona Lisa. Don't really get why that painting is so much more famous than any of the others hanging in there but then it was hard to get a good look at it because of the light reflections on the protective glass, the six deep crowd round it and those bloody selfie sticks waving in the air. I'm glad we saw it though because its ticked off now, but no more than that (Sorry Leonardo!) .

The Louvre building itself was amazing but much prefer the impressionist stuff. With quite a bit to cram in before our train home, we only had time to grab a sandwich to eat as we walked along the Champs Elysees for a view of the Arc de Triomphe. Then hopped on the metro to the Eiffel tower. It was cool standing underneath it but didn't fancy going up it as not great with heights and the queues were ridiculous. Much prefer to look at it and we had amazing views of Paris from the Sacre Coeur on day 1. After a quick march round the shops to get pressies for Toby and Eva we had a bit of a panic getting to the train station in time for the train home as collecting our luggage took longer than expected. Journey home seemed to take forever, I was knackered but couldnt sleep and we had a really annoying 20 min wait in Luton to get 2 mins up the track to Luton Parkway because we got the wrong train out of London. All well at home. Went straight upstairs to cuddle my sleeping beauties. Home sweet home.
