Butterflies at last

This year has not been a good one round here for butterflies. The result is that other than those seen in France in June I have not blipped very many. At last sunshine as arrived and many were flying today. Here is the underwing of a Red Admiral.

In extras yesterday I offered two stages in the life of the Shaggy Inkcap. Unfortunately Blip would accept only one extra. Todays extra shows the next stage. This is the extraordinary process where the whole outer casing turns into a black liquid which drips to the ground leaving just the stalk. This is called deliquescing.
