Past

Not my past, but that of my late parents in law. It must be the first time ever it is out of its frame.
There is a story behind this photo. My parents in law married in May 1944, in the last year of the war. My father in law managed to stay in his village with false identity papers. I remember him telling that, when he was summoned to go working in Germany, his father went to the registration office to explain to the officer that his son was far to weak to leave home.
The wedding dress my mother in law was wearing had been bought by them with 12 dozen eggs.

The photo always stood next to their bed. Now I'm going to clean the glass and will put the photo back in its frame where it belongs.
