King of the Hill!

I've been visiting the Arboretum regularly this week, watching in fascination as the lotus flowers bloom.

The lily pond is lovely and special in the cool quiet of morning, but in the afternoon something amazing happens: the dragonflies arrive in full force!

This large, stripey fellow was perched on the spent bloom of an iris. From the tippy-top of the iris, it could survey its domain.

All hail: King of the Hill!
