Simple elegance

When it comes down to it great crested grebes are some of the most striking looking birds you could wish for. This was one of a pair on Penn Ponds in Richmond Park fairly early this morning.

I had gone to the park with the intention of getting some more shots of the rutting stags and whilst I succeeded in terms of quantity I was disappointed with the quality. I've included an extra of one particularly daft looking animal who was clearly trying to impress the ladies with his fancy headwear.
