Uyuni Salt Flats - Day 1

Last stop in Bolivia was the Uyuni Salt Desert and it did not disappoint! We began our 3 day tour with 4 other people, an older German couple and a couple our age from Switzerland squashed in a 4x4 Toyota Landcrusier. On Day 1 we drove for hours and hours across this magical place. A couple of stops included an old train cemetery and lunch in a salt hotel. We then got to stop for a photo shoot which lasted a couple of hours so we could perfect our perspective shots with some props. This is a lot harder than it looks, but it is a lot of fun! We came across an island floating in the mirage of the salt flats, which was solely covered in cactuses 3-6m tall and 90 years old! That night we slept in a hotel made of...SALT. The walls, floor, tables and bed bases were all salt. A pretty cool experience!
