Russelling* up a reputation

I do a good deal of work in the higher education sector, where the phrase "Russell Group" signifies status, prestige, research excellence and (in my terribly humble opinion) just a touch of snootiness.

Passing the Russell Hotel, after which the group is named, often has me reflecting on how that touch of snootiness may have been absorbed from the surroundings.
