Threshold of Terror

This plastic beastie has been hanging around the house since Hallowe'en - and no matter how many times I pick it up, it always finds its way back onto the floor.

The thing is, close up you can see it's a rubbish plastic toy. But every time I catch sight of it out of the corner of my eye, my heart does an adrenaline-fuelled backflip. You see, I am that most shameful of things: the bloke who's scared of spiders.

I know it's daft, that there's no reason to be frightened, they're more scared than you are, they do a lot of good ... blah blah blah. But then, I suppose the point of phobias is that they're not really rational.

Perhaps it's time to "disappear it"...
