Homage to Mr. Tradescant!

Back home from my northern odyssey and right into autumn, so I am going to be haunting Burrow Farm Gardens for the next few weeks to make the most of my season ticket and to photograph some of the stunning trees and flowers there. Today's treat is this chestnut just breaking out into the world.and the extra pic is a fallen one with the lovely soft innards of the seed pod on display. I love the creamy white, plush interior of these cases and the contrasting glossy hard shell of the seed. I'm so glad that Tradescant senior brought these lovely trees back from his plant hunting expeditions.
