The good man

Saw the National Theatre of Scotland's production of Macbeth tonight. I should say some clever things but it's easier just to report that it is fantastic.

Practically a one man show, which is to say that Alan Cumming plays all the major roles, without an interval, for two hours, set in a psychiatric institution.

There's some very clever use of technology, and themes hinting at his character's real life.

But setting that aside, it was sort of like having the most clever and creative friend tell you the story of the play, making up voices for each of the characters and helping you understand it in a completely different way than you did reading it at school.

And he sat and had a drink in the bar afterwards with his pals. Classy.
