Le Bassin d’Arcachon…

Under cloudy skies, we took the ferry to Cap Ferret this morning, crossing the Bassin d’Arcachon, with distant views of Le Dune du Pilat (extra photo 1). The main photo shows another view of the dune from Cap Ferret itself. The wooden poles that you can see mark oyster beds.

After a wander around Cap Ferret, and a spot of retail therapy, it was time for a long, leisurely lunch with views across the basin to that amazing dune again! (extra photo 2) By the time we took the ferry back(extra photo 3), the sun had reappeared and arriving back in Arcachon (extra photo 4) we found we’d once more returned to Summer!!

As it was my last evening in France, we took a final drive along the coastal road, with views framed by those wonderful Maritime Pines, back across to Cap Ferret (extra photo 5), before settling down at a beachside restaurant for one last Prosecco Kir as we watched the sun set over the sea. The perfect way to end my last day…
