Caminology

Caminology refers to the study of chimneys, or chimney pots and stacks. (Well there is probably an 'ology' for just about everything!)
Another fascinating fact is that the National Clayware Federation's 1964 catalogue details over 500 different styles of chimney pots. This collection of 12 pots features a mere 8 different pot styles.

They caught my eye in the strong sunlight this afternoon, but often most of a building's interesting details are way above street level or eye level, and we just don't usually notice them.
