Was It Really So Long Ago

Holkham Beach

It could be a picture of a far away beach on an exotic location. Whilst Holkham in North Norfolk might be described as desirable, it falls short of exotic.

Today is day 1 of the shortened walking holiday with the rest of the Jolly Boys (see only fools and horses for the origin of the name). A perfect sunny September day for a walk from Stiffkey to Burnham Overy Staithe, birthplace of Lord Admiral Nelson with the pub named in his honour - The Hero. After 10 or so miles of walking, we were looking forward to a drink. The pub was closed for renovations! Plan B delivered us via the coast hopper bus into Wells Next The Sea on the return journey where we found the Globe very much open.
