AFL Grand Final

This is a late posting for yesterday when friends gave us free tickets to the Australian Football League's final game of the season. I am not a football follower but my husband was eager and with so much atmosphere, it was well worth it. Melbournians are passionate about their football.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground, where it is held, holds 100,000 people -  all seats sold out. Tickets were selling for $220 but when it became impossible to get tickets by normal means, scalpers were attempting to on-sell for up to $600, so fierce is the competition to get tickets!

The teams were Hawthorn vs. West Coast and thousands of West Australians had made the trip by either air or road right across the continent to cheer their team on.  The crowd was well behaved, the weather hot, the local team won (third year running).
