End of the holiday

Today we left our villa and set out for home, but not before ensuring that the 6 kittens and their dad had enjoyed a feast of tuna and milk to drink!
Mr MC's sister and her husband left first to catch their flight to Rome, whilst we stayed on awhile as our Ryanair flight from Palermo  to London was not until 9.35pm.  As it turned out, Ryanair was not on this occasion, on time but left half an hour late, so we eventually reached home after 1am.
We spent our long day in Sicily driving along the coast, stopping off for lunch at a rather nice restaurant in Marsala, then driving on to Castellamare del Golfo for an ice cream  before going to the airport.

My featured  scene today is of the beach at Castellemare, which was pleasant enough, not fantastically clean but good enough for a quick paddle!

The same can't be said of another seaside town we visited just before, where the front appeared neglected and there was rubbish and building rubble along the shore - see my extra pic today.  Sadly, uncollected rubbish and abandoned, derelict buildings were a feature of many of the places that we visited during this holiday.

We did have the most wonderful time, though -  lots of laughs, food and wine and great company -and our villa was beautiful: we hope it won't be too long before the 6 of us can get together in this way again.

I couldn't resist adding a final extra of the six kittens and dad, scoffing tuna - the little tabby on his hind legs  was the boldest and most affectionate of the kittens.  We shall miss them and hope that someone continues to look after them now that we are gone.
