Do you believe in magic?

I was asked by one of my pupils recently, "do you believe in magic?". As a science teacher, I didn't quite know how to answer him. I decided later that I will tell him that no, I don't believe in magic but that I do believe in miracles.

Some science seems like magic though, just because we don't experience it in our daily lives. But there's nothing magical about the plasma ball that seems to give off lightning. And I can make a test tube disappear, but it's all to do with the refractive index of glycerol and glass.
