A concrete love affair

The Alport Stone

The Alport Stone at Alport Height. This area is an old haunt for me, I once drove up here all the time to behold the views. Ive not been up here for years. The stone is a quarried stone but does have a charm about it.
Which leads nicely to my next location....

The onderful Nine Ladies stone circle on Stanton Moor in the Peak District. Very peaceful place this, very relaxing and enjoyable to walk around on a sunny afternoon. Having visited Stonehenge and Averbury in the last 10 days Im intrigued by standing stones. Their true purpose alludes us modern humans but I like to think of them as metaphysical. Rather like radio towers, which are quite often are located nearby to these monuments, their purpose only iludes us without the benefit of a radio. Something our ancestors never had.

My B&W image was taken in close proximity to the Nine Ladies standing stones; a beautiful mushroom tree on Stanton Moor with the transmitter in the distance.
