Last year's leaf

I struggled for a photograph today. I was down in Hampshire helping my daughter with her garden and way too busy to take photos. At one point, a lovely Hummingbird Hawkmoth appeared and fed for a few minutes around a clump of Red Valarian...I rushed to grab my camera from the car and snatched a couple of shots, but they were very disappointing when I looked at them at home (I've never managed to get a good photo of this moth!). Then I remember that while I was weeding I'd found a lovely skeletonised leaf from last year and put it in my top pocket. On checking, there it still was, hardly damaged...so here it is, probably about a year after it fell to earth and began a long process of decaying.
