Professor Ian Tracey And Hanger-on

Once again we were delighted to attend the Autumn Shades event with ChurchOrganWorld at their showroom in Shaw, where we were entertained and advised by Professor Ian Tracey, who spent several minutes with us, discussing our church's needs, among many other topics.

Prof Tracey demonstrated two instruments in the showroom, one custom-made for the venue, the other a Makin 'Thirlmere' model and, after we had all partaken of a delicious buffet lunch, the recital continued in nearby Holy Trinity Church, where a Thirlmere has been installed. Here the acoustics are more favourable than the small showroom and the full capabilities of the instrument proved most impressive. (It is also a very interesting building, celebrating its quincentenary recently).

And, yes, I bought another souvenir organ stop - Super Sub Octave.

The extra photo is of the Packhorse Bridge in the centre of Hebden Bridge, built in 1510, with C17 repairs and C19 alteration, now pedestrian-only. Another packhorse bridge tomorrow!
