Dimbola Lodge

About 25 local photographers took part in the Isle of Wight part of the Worldwide Photo Walk starting and finishing at Dimbola Lodge the home of the Victorian pioneer of photography Julia Margaret Cameron.

The walk was a gentle ramble around Freshwater taking in places of interest including Tennyson's house and a thatched church.

I did not get many worthwhile images during the walk-too much chatting- but on returning to Dimbola whilst some of the participants were playing with lighting in the studio I took some images of the bedroom which is set up as it was in Julia Magaret's day.

I thought it was appropriate to use my Petzval Art lens for the picture as it is the modern version of the lens used by JMC to make her portraits of the famous personalities of the time.

The extra pic shows JMC's camera with her Petval lens attached.
