Amsterdam

The crossing was amazingly calm. The only evidence that we were on board a ship was a quiet throbbing from the engines. We were however rudely awakened by a loudspeaker announcement that it was 6:30am (local time) and wasn't it about time we were up and about (the last bit was implied if not actually stated)!!

We had a brilliant day in Amsterdam. The forecast of rain was totally wrong. It was warm(ish) and sunny(ish) all day. We walked to the Rijks Museum from Central Station, where we were dropped off, taking in the sights and avoiding being run over by bicycles. I took a lot of photographs so it was difficult to choose a blip. This was one of my favourites though. We need to return and spend more time here.

Extra - a sculpture in the Rijks Museum entitled "Two Mothers" by Frans Stracké, 1893. The faces were so expressive it was hard to look away from them.
