Beach School!

I am lucky enough to work at a school with official beach school status. This means all the children regularly visit the beach to take their lessons outside and to learn about the natural environment too. 

Today my class went to the beach, despite the very wet weather. We donned our waterproof trousers, wellies and waterproof coats to truly embrace the elements!! We wrote our names in the sand, used to pebbles to help with our addition, wrote addition number sentences in the sand, built towers, counted our food prints and walked the length of the beach counting in 5's and 10's...and to end the day...took a paddle in the sea! 

It was great to see the children filled with absolute excitement as we arrived at the beach. It may only be 10 minutes from school, but most of them had never been before - they just loved every second and it acted to show learning can be fun!
