Wet evening, Week Street, Maidstone.

The day ended very well with a good night out with our friends Wendy and Chris at ASK Italian in Maidstone. This is the latest Italian restaurant to open in Earl Street in Maidstone. It joins Prezzo, Zizzi, Pizza Express and Wildwood amongst numerous other places to eat along this street. You could start at one end and eat in a different place for two weeks, so many there are here.

We used our Tastecard, which gives 2 for 1 on all starters, mains and desserts, which makes the evening out good value. All the Italians along the street offer Tastecard deals, not suprising really.

There'd been heavy rain on our way into town which had cleared up by the time we left for home. This shot was taken while walking back to the car. Where we now have Burger King used to be C and H Fabrics which was a very good place for all things to do with curtains, fabrics and associated haberdashery. It closed in 2011 owing to a wrangle over business rates and with the building's landlord. Maidstone lost a thriving business and gained a burger bar via several temporary pop up shots selling tat, toot and cut price Christmas wrapping paper.

Other than that, the day passed aimiably enough, rooted to the chair in front of the computer screen or ear glued to the phone. I did make an apple and onion loaf but it stuck to the bottom of the tin so tore when I tried to get it out. Tasted fine though. And I bought a Nespresso capsule coffee maker. But that's another story.
