Is That All There Is ?

Hugh Fraser built the business, young Hugh lost the business.

Frasers, Buchanan Street, Glasgow traded under the original Wylie & Lochhead name and was Hugh Frasers flagship store until he fulfilled his lifetime ambition of owning Harrods.

Hugh was no fool and retained the local identity of the stores he purchased.

Now times have changed, the name Frasers lives on under new owners but for me the Buchanan Street store will always be Wylie & Lochhead's and will always hold the magic of childhood shopping trips.

To name the store's champagne bar after Hugh is not the epitaph he deserves.
