View from the Boathouse

We visited Powerscourt House and Demesne to day but ran into the rain. One of the most beautiful gardens anywhere, Powerscourt needs to be seen with the sun shining. No such luck for us though. By the time we got the Saturday morning chores done the showers of rain had replaced the morning sunshine.
Here you see the ornamental pond and its fountain shot from within the boathouse which rather than being a shed is actually a cave cut into the face of the high bank where the ground begins to rise in the classical terraced style which is often seen at large country estates. Maybe next time we will have better light.
