Sanderling(Calidris alba)

The Sanderling is a common passage migrant here in Oman, it's quite small and is the palest of the small Sandpipers, so quite hard to see at the water's edge on the beach against the surf. This Sanderling was actually photographed on a tidal mudflat at Azaibah and was on his own, usually they are seen in small flocks, but there was obviously food for him left by the tide. A very energetic, pretty little bird, but difficult to photograph as this little bird loves to run, I was with a friend who was also desperately trying to get a photo of him with her super new Nikon P900 with its incredible 83x zoom!
