1904 v 2015

The first picture is dated circa 1904, the second photo was taken today. It doesn't look much like a 110 years has gone by in between. The tower is a martello tower, now known as the James Joyce tower and running as a small museum. It is where the opening of his novel "Ulysses" is set, and where Joyce stayed for a short time as a guest of the poet and author, Oliver St. John Gogarty. "Ulysses" is set in 1904 and I wondered to myself if Joyce would think that not much has changed since then, both in scenery and in psyche.
