Black Caviar meets Queen

June Challenge - Pink

Salmon Pink with black spots to be exact! Today Royal Ascot was peppered with salmon pink on dresses, hats, waistcoats and ties.

Black Caviar bows her head in reverence to HRH Queen Elizabeth II as the two Queens of the turf meet face to face.

All protocol was blown away in the winners' enclosure at Royal Ascot today when Queen Elizabeth walked over to congratulate Black Caviar on a close run victory in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. On her left in the salmon pink colours, with black spots is Luke Nolen, Black Caviar's jockey.

I think it could be said that this amazing mare from Australia won inspite of her jockey, Luke Nolen, who misjudged the race completely and stopped riding before the post. Black Caviar won by a neck.

Nolen looked anxious on his return and was called in front of the stewards to explain his riding.

The huge crowd at Ascot was swelled further by 10,000 Aussies, many of whom had made the journey from Melbourne just to see Black Caviar race today.

It was fantastic to be part of such an historic week.
On Tuesday Frankel won the Queen anne Stakes by a country mile.

The O'Brien father and son, trainer and Jockey team won the 150th Anniversary of Prince of Wales Stakes with So You Think on Wednesday.

On Thursday Frankie Detorri made an outstanding return to the winners' enclosure in the Gold Cup on Colour Vision.

Friday saw the Queen's horse Estimate, win the Queen's Vase in Her Diamond Jubilee year, with an emotional presentation made to Her by the Duke of Edinburgh, but today's heroine, Black Caviar, will be the story that runs and runs.
