Revenge

This is St. Lambert's Church in Münster.  It's very pretty and the story of these three cages is decidedly not.

In 1536 some time after the Siege Of Münster was over, the three leaders of the Anabaptist Rebellion were tortured & then executed in the town square and their bodies were placed in these cages on the church.  They were John of Leiden, Bernhard Knipperdolling & Bernhard Krechting.

Not such a happy New Year for them.

This kind of religious thing always puts me in mind of this Emo Philips joke:-

Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over.
