A walk along the Thames River

It was another beautiful autumn morning, sunny and clear skies and very mild. I decided to take Murdoch for a walk along the Thames River tow path in Kingston - it took us ages to get there...two men were working on an electricity box on the side of the road and decided to park their van in the road and so had set up a one way temporary traffic light system as their van was blocking one lane. Aargh, it took ages to get through the bottle neck of traffic. One wonders why they are so thoughtless when there was a side road right next to where they were working, and they could have parked their van there. Probably too lazy to walk the few yards to get their tools from the van.

Then I got caught up in the Garmin Kingston marathon, so by the time I finally got to Kingston and parked the car poor Murdoch was desperate to get out the car. Watching the marathon runners I thought of Gavin who is running the Chicago Marathon today (Kingston would have been a lot closer!!). Many of the runners were struggling, in fact one young man sat down on a bench along the tow path and was still there when I returned from my walk about an hour later. Poor Gavin has hardly slept due to jet lag so I don't think he will do very well in the marathon today.

The light was lovely on the river this morning, it was good to be out in the sunshine.

Added later - Gavin finished the marathon in 3hours 24 mins, not bad for a jet lagged old guy! His half time split was 1 hour 33min which is impressive.
