The Edge of the Wold

Loch Lubnaig

Day 1 on our trip to Raasay.  We met at Crooklands at 0700 and took our time on the nearly 400 mile journey to Skye and then Raasay.  We had stopped for a late breakfast in Callander, and not much further on, the mirror reflections in Loch Lubnaig got the better of me.  I had driven by the two Forestry Commission picnic sites, but finally pulled up in a lay-by and climbed over a fence to get down to the water.

Wifie says that if this is turned through 90 degrees there is a green goddess.  I don't know about that, but there were strange men lurking by the shore, they might have been fishermen, but there were no fishing rods.  Not were they photographers, as there was not a camera in sight apart from mine.  I didn't stay too long to find out why they were there, and we continued our journey northwards, eventually stopping at the end of Glencoe to give the dogs a run out and comfort break.

We stopped again in Broadford on Skye for fuel, and I found a miraculous hardware shop to buy a foot pump for the slow puncture on the Jazz (not so miraculous it turned out - the pump didn't work).  Then on to the 1830 ferry from Sconser, arriving in Raasay as it was getting dark.  Finally arriving at our home from home at about 1930.  Such a relaxing and beautiful place.
