Rock

Mini pebbles I am sending in a care package to my daughter at Uni. Little bits of home. I marvel at pebbles, especially striped ones, that were many billions of years ago plants, or animals, heated and compressed into sedimentary rock, that was fractured apart by some mighty force, perhaps being torn apart by earthquake, or tectonic forces buckling the earths crust, and a fragment found its way by river or glacier to the sea, where countless tides tumbled it until it became smooth. Pebbles make me feel tiny, but in a good way, a liberating way.
