Day at a Time

Abbotsford

I've had a day out today and went for my first trip on the recently reopened Borders Railway from Waverley to Tweedbank. What a fantastic journey through the lovely countryside in beautiful sunshine. From Tweedbank it's a very short walk to Abbotsford House, once home of the novelist Sir Walter Scott. The last time I was at Abbotsford was in about 1966 on Girl Guide Camp so my memory of it was hazy.

Here is the house from the walled garden, still colourful in mid October. My first extra picture is the kind of sitooterie I'd like in my garden and the second is Gunknowe Loch in Tweedbank.
