Leith

We travelled by train to Edinburgh today to have a few day's break. I haven't been here since 2011, pre-blip, it was a surprise birthday treat, Ann organised a day trip by vintage train from Stratford to Edinburgh, as you can imagine we didn't have very long to explore the city, though we did see Princes Street and the Royal Mile. So now we have five days to be a bit more thorough.

Roz met us in off the train and after a walk and coffee we took the bus to the A-Haven Town House in Leith where we are staying. The hotel is very comfortable and I would recommend it to anyone wishing to stay up here (it's where Roz stays every time she's in Edinburgh).

After a little break we walked to the docks at Leith, where the Royal Yacht is moored, then onto Ocean Terminal, a large shopping mall and cinema complex with an incredible view over the water. There we had some tea at Frankie and Bennys then walked back to the hotel.

The picture is a cormorant drying his wings on the Water of Leith with the reflections of the buildings around him.

In the lounge now planning tomorrow's adventures.
