Melbourne

Today we spent the day walking around the centre of Melbourne.

We took the train in at 9.45, getting off in Flinders Street Station.  We then walked along the South Bank down to Victoria Harbour, playing with reflections and colours in the tall buildings.  At the harbour we saw lots of yachts and the Melbourne Star wheel, before walking up the side of the Etihad Stadium and finding some lunch at 'Pie Face'.

We walked through to Fitzroy Gardens and had a look at Captain Cook's Cottage.  This was his parents house from Great Ayton in Yorkshire, and it was bought for £800 in the 1930s, dismanted, trasported to Australia and then rebuilt in the park.  It was labelled as "the oldest house in Australia"!

We then walked through another park and past the MCG before getting on the train at Richmond station to return home.
