Special dogs

We had three visitors to speak at our WI meeting tonight. And they brought a Labrador, Molly. They were all from the charity Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. We heard about how these trained dogs help people by alerting them when, for example, the telephone rings, the oven timer beeps, the doorbell goes. They are also trained to take notes from one family member to another on a different floor of the house, and to fetch other people.
These dogs give people confidence - particularly children who are deaf - so that they feel they can go out and about without another person.
It was a very interesting evening, one of many enjoyed by WI members over the year!
