Life Through the Lens

The lane at the end of our street

Melbourne has hundreds of lanes - especially in the city and older suburbs because these were used by the "the nightman" to collect and dispose of unmentionable product. (Need I say more, you've got the idea, right?). The legacy we have today are bluestone cobbled lanes that continue to provide adjoining home owners with access into their back gardens. We have such a lane at the end of our street and I wandered down late this afternoon looking for a shot that I could post tonight. There's a train line at the end of it, where you see a bit of graffiti on the other side of the tracks, but otherwise it's a quiet back lane used just enough to prevent the weeds coming up too much.
