Snug for the winter

I was actually looking for galls when I spotted these three 7-spot ladybirds huddled inside an empty beechmast husk - a great place to over-winter. On the same tree I did find galls of the midge Hartigiola annulipes - cylindrical growths on the upper surface of the leaves (see extra photo).
