La vida de Annie

La amable señora veterinario

This is the very kind vet, Ursula von Hofe, who operated on Buster today for a malformed hip joint. The game little chap never complained, scooting around beaches and rocks on mainly three legs, but it became apparent that one was troubling him to the extent that the muscle was wasting away. An x-ray last week showed that the ball of the femur was deformed and unable to sit snugly in the pelvic socket; this is quite a common genetic fault with Yorkies. The only solution was to open him up and take off the abnormality in the bone, and this was done  this morning. At only 2 kilos he is quite small for an operation, but Ursula's partner is skilled at this type of surgery and it went smoothly. The day really dragged waiting for news, and every time the phone rang I was panicking that it was bad news (in fact it was requests for two different photoshoots, so that's good). He's now sleeping on the sofa wrapped in a new fleecy dog blanket, serenely unaware that a quarter of his body is now bald and that he may have to wear the dreaded funnel collar to stop him pulling out the stitches. He's going to be mad as Hell tomorrow....
