Vik Church

This has been back-blipped due to lack of Internet access at the time.

This is Vik Church - an absolutely stunning setting, with the magnificent green hills and purple of the wild lupins. I (Annie) stood for a long time in the spot waiting for the sunlight to roll over the church. I loved the way that the church was reflected in the stream when it eventually did. The long wait was made better by chatting to Jennifer, who was also on the trip - a very fun lady.

We had a great day - starting here in Vik, then heading back to Reykjavík - such a cool city, with lots of arty graffiti and lively bars. The church, although built in concrete, manages to be light, airy and delicate.

As we strolled back to the hotel after a goodbye meal with the group and our fantastic local guide, we still could not get used to it being light at midnight. Sometimes when people poll out of a bar drunk, they need the cover of darkness to stagger home with dignity!

We'll add more pictures to the Blipfolio as we sort through them - and then we'll catch up commenting!
