The Almond Shuckers

I'd seen these women in this room yesterday, but it was only today we poked our noses in to see what they were up to. And chat. In very rudimentary Spanish. Trabajo duro.
Today was the day of the market. The island's biggest, apparently. And the only one still trading livestock. Aye, right. The usual blokes selling dodgy handbags, mobile phone cases and sunglasses. And food counters with all the appeal and individuality of Makro. Don't get me wrong, I was utterly charmed. The downpours certainly added to the ambiance.
So, a most enjoyable afternoon relaxing indoors, reading and sipping Don Simon. The holiday has reached that point where enough Spanish food, alioli, pan and chips have been had. And this evening, in this almost deserted town - a packed and wonderful pizzeria! What a tonic. Tomorrow, onward to the sea and more sun, according to the forecast. You may get my legs on the beach yet.
