Year Three

Day blown to smitherines

Oh well, no good deed goes unpunished they say.

Picked up some scrap metal, and on the way back, ran out of fuel. Problem was that the tank didn't show empty, engine wouldn't restart after putting in two gallons, so push came to shove, got the truck recovered. Best bet is that if diesels don't like being run dry.

Mechanic has said that they will check the truck first thing tomorrow. We need this truck back as we have an excavator booked for Monday morning, so if it's not coming back before the weekend we need to reschedule a bunch of things.

But we did get the Ranger back, kinda did a swapsie at the mechanic. $0 was the repair bill. Which was nice but kinda expected.

Essentially the work they had done a year ago caused it to over heat, and instead of being able to just put new core plugs in, they actually had to either put a new headgasket on, or replaced the head. not sure which, and not sure whether to ask. It still has an inlet gasket leak so it could be that they just replaced the headgasket. Not sure.

But it's nice to have the Ranger back. I love my big truck, but not for all this round town stuff I've been doing as its complete overkill.
