Flying High

Today our Safari began on a  Makoro,  which although now are fiberglass were the canoes that were once used to navigate the channels of the delta.   The morning ride found the tour group staring at something white and as we got closer found we were toasted with a champagne snack.  The channels are carved yearly by hippos,  unfortunately they were not in sight this morning.  Afternoon's entertainment was a helicopter flight over the delta.  The Elephant was not impressed, but we were!!!  We cooled off (it really was hot) in our personal plunge pool and then off again in motor boats hunting for creatures and found lots of water animals and birds- again no hippos.  The day ended with sundowners as we watched another beautiful sunset.  I cannot express enough how in these small camp- away from any kind of civilization the staff made everything seem so effortless, with such smiles.  At dinner they all entertained us with song and dance and were so joyful and knowledgeable.
